Tim Needles founded the The Strictly Students Film Festival in 2003 to help film and media students have a showcase for their work and connect to each other. In the first five years the festival grew to include nationwide then later worldwide audiences and participants.

The annual festival has 6 categories of work: Narrative, Documentary, Animation, Comedy, Experimental, and Screenwriting as well as a graphic design competition for packaging and posters. The festival is free for both submissions and audiences and also holds a free student filmmakers "bootcamp" each year where students can learn from industry professionals.

In 2008 Tim stepped down as president of the festival in order to pursue other endeavors but still supports the festival. Below is a link to the festival's website.
